As far as I know, Piriform is only going to deliver "emergency" updates to CCleaner Free users via this new update channel if security experts like the folks at Google Project Zero provide proof that the current version already in use by customers has a serious security vulnerability that could be actively exploited.
I was one of the bit users who had the "stage one" Floxif trojan installed on my computer when I ran the CCleaner Free v5. If a hacker was able to commandeer this Emergency Updater channel to deliver another one of these infected installers I'm sure the CCleaner forum would be lighting up with comments from alarmed users in a matter of minutes.
